We have had rain for the past two weeks and I am running out of ideas. We have visited Cardiff and Bristol, been swimming, done painting, been on wellington walks, played outside between showers, what next? Many ideas i have come up with are just not suitable for a two year old. e.g art galleries, botanical gardens., etc

  1. i recommend board games or a movie =D

  2. Board Games, or a movie...?

  3. Indoor swimming!

  4. Why not get one of those all in one waterproof coats for your toddler, and take them to the park in the rain.

My little girl loves this because she goes flying off the slide at the bottom because its wet, kids love the rain.

Stick a coat on them like this, with a pair of welly boots and watch them have fun.

As for today, i think there's not much you can do with visitors coming around, let toddler have a morning watching cbeebies.

Have a nice day whatever you decide.

Oh, you could always make white chocolate rice crispy cakes, kids love that too.

  5. well.., teach him/her about the map. Maybe he/she can be another lilly..?? who knows. I have a 2yr old too. He's always lay with his motorcycle and arrange boxes, starting from the biggest to the smallest... build a pyramid using them.. He's always loves pingu, bob the builder and finding nemo.

  6. Is there anything like an indoor playground in your area?  Some museums also have kids areas where little ones can interact with the displays.  Other than that, small children don't mind doing the same thing over and over...  If yours like swimming or painting, let him indulge.  He may have a special talent for it.

At the end of the day, it's usually the parents who get bored doing the same stuff!

Why not let him help you bake cookies or finger foods for your guests?  A little cooking lesson that will be useful in the future.  Then he can help serve and proudly tell the guests "I made it myself".

  7. Playdoh is fantastic, give them some biscuit cutters and utensils, they will have a ball making pretend food and animals etc.Another activity I do with my toddlers is get a long roll of plain paper [Ikea or craft shops] lay several meters out on a hard floor and let them go to town with stickers and crayons, they will love it. If you have patience and don't mind a mess, little kids love cooking- make it something simple like chocolate crackles or honey jumbles they are so proud when dad gets home and they tell him they made it themselves.
