The Feyenoord technical director has made it clear that the 22-year-old has to sign the contract extension before Thursday, while expressing confidence that the midfielder will prolong his stay at De Kuip Stadion.
Feyenoord Rotterdam technical director, Martin van Geel, has expressed optimism over Kelvin Leerdam’s future at De Kuip Stadion.
The 22-year-old has an expiring contract with the Stadiumclub that runs until the end of the ongoing 2012/13 campaign. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 management have already offered the young midfielder an extension to his expiring deal, but the Dutchman has yet to sign
the new contract.
However, the Rotterdammers chief has now revealed that his side will certainly hear positive news regarding the youngster’s stay at De Kuip Stadion, though, he has also made it clear that the Dutch U-21 international must decide whether to prolong his stay
before November 1.
“Kelvin has time until Thursday. Otherwise, the offer is withdrawn. But I am assuming that we will have a positive answer from him this week”, Van Geel was quoted as saying to Nusport.nl.
The Rotterdammers technical director went on to reveal that his side has made a good offer to Leerdam, who has thus far represented the Rotterdam giants in close to 100 games in all competitions.
“We have made every effort to keep him at Feyenoord. And he has a very beautiful, supreme offer. We hope he is going to stay with us for longer”, Van Geel concluded.
Meanwhile, the Feyenoord boss, Ronald Koeman, heaped praise on the 22-year-old, and revealed that his presence in the midfield has played a vital role in securing good results.
“Kelvin is a genuine team player. He combines well with Jordy in the midfield. I hope he signs the new deal”, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player said while talking to journalists.
Reports in Dutch media indicate that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede have set their sights on luring Leerdam to De Grolsch Veste on a free transfer before the start of the 2013/14 season.
Whereas, the Feyenoord management would be hoping that the young midfielder signs the new deal that will prolong his stay at De Kuip Stadion until the summer of 2015.
