Question:

We just bought TUNGSTEN bands online (as we are in a hurry) will it look ok w/ a white gold engagement ring?

I know...I know...blast me for buying online if you will, but I just wondered if ANYONE ELSE of the female persuasion has faced this issue and is wearing a tungsten band (I wanted Tungsten because my will-be fiance uses heavy machinery all day) with their engagement ring.

I want a fake diamond because of "conflict diamonds" (spread the word fellas, that'll save ya thousands!!) and hope he picks one with a white gold setting...which leads me to wonder if there are even decent "lab created" stones...but that's a separate question I suppose.

Thanks in advance for all answers, and please, this is "happy time" for us, please be kind with your replies. Spreading good vibes makes good karma....so.....

here's to YOUR happiness. :)

  1. The tungsten bands are a good idea, especially if you're going abroad for your honeymoon. It should look okay with white gold, as long as it has a similar finish;

    As to lab-created diamonds, there ARE some nice ones out there. Danged hard to tell them from the real thing, too;

    I'm afraid I'm a natural diamond girl myself, though. I like the flaws that most lest expensive(yet just as pretty) stones carry. There are conflict-free diamonds out there(I've got some, a coffee-coloured 1/3ct diamond surrounded by nine champagne ones, with a conflict-free guarantee) easily available through many Canadian jewelers, so I'm afraid there's no getting off of the hook THAT easily, guys. There's also the option of recycling a diamond; shop at antique shops or consignment stores. You can get a better quality stone in a better and more unique ring for a better price, without supporting the more unethical diamond dealers.

  2. I think it's fine. Nobody is going to notice and if they do tell them to butt out and stop criticizing! And my diamond is fake too! I love it!

  3. Ya, They look very similar. Can't really tell the difference. I have a white gold engagement ring and we just picked up my fiance's tungsten wedding band. I put them on together for fun and they look great! the only thing with white gold is that it fades to goldish color because it's really gold with white overlay. But usually the jewelry store you bought it at will send it to get cleaned and re-finished under warranty.

  4. The tungsten will look a little brighter than the white gold.  It won't be all that noticeable though so I wouldn't worry too much.  As far as the stones go have you considered something other than diamonds?  Maybe choose a stone that has meaning to you or is in your favorite color.  My experience with lab created stones is they just don't have the same warmth and sparkle as natural.

  5. Depending what they ahve mixed the tungsten with or if its a lone material.  My fiances band is tungsten carbide and its a dark silver color.

    the are indescructable but the down side is, no engraving and no resizing!
