We just bought an HD Vizio flat screen 32inch. and recently had a wii remote control thrown at the screen. There is no damage to the screen itself, but when you turn it on rainbow rays burst throughout the screen picture. Is this repairable and how much would it be? We are still under warranty, but it is not covered since it was damaged by us. I would like to see if there is a local repair man that could possibly fix it for cheaper then a big chain would. Also I am not even sure if the screen is fixable. The tv is still watchable it just has bursts of color throughout.. not a very pleasant sight.

  1. I'm guessing your tv is either a plasma or an Lcd.  (i sell tv's for my job so i know what i am talking about).  And to be honest your out of luck, it would cost you an extremely large amount of money to replace your television.  With plasma's you would simply need to replace the television to the best of my knowledge they can't really repair them.  (simply because plasma's are two solid sheets of glass with gas in between them).  And if it's and Lcd it's repairable  but usually the cost would be about the cost of the tv if not more.

  2. Yes, your LCD screen can be repaired, assuming you can get parts. That's the good news. The bad news is that the repair is not covered by warranty or homeowners insurance AND the cost of repair will be close to what it will cost to get a new set, with a new warranty. So, live with it or toss it and get a new one.

More good news! Next time you can get a quality 32" LCD, like Panasonic, or Sony, or Toshiba and not a third tier "junk" TV like Vizio. Be sure and read this before you go shopping:  http://www.hdguru.com/your-new-disposabl...
