We just got 2 Guinea Pigs for my kid. How often to you clean their crates totally?

Do you give them a little hay? Do you give them Vitamin C drops? The literature tells you to give hay and C but I just want to be sure it's the general rule.

You give LOTS of hay. Guinea pigs should get as much timothy hay as they will eat. They don't need vitamin C supplements as long as they get enough fruits and veggies in their diet. If you do want to add extra vitamin C, make sure you don't get the kind you add to their water.

You're probably going to find out that guinea pigs are a lot more work than you bargained for! How old is your kid? Prepare to do a lot of the work yourself if he's on the young side...guinea pigs have a lot of strict care requirements and are hard to handle with small hands.

I have a 15-square foot cage with 3 guinea pigs in it. I partially clean my guinea pig cage every day. I give it a full cleaning every 3 days.

Firstly if you buy your Guinea pigs the right dry mix food you will find that it will contain all the dietary requirements needed.make sure they have a fresh change of water once or twice a day.Fresh green stuff i.e.cabbage and carrots even a little apple can be given no more than twice a week.You can line their cage with lots of hay or straw.Please be aware though that Guinea pigs of the same s*x in the same cage will fight.Guinea pigs liked to be handled but not roughly.Have their teeth and claws checked regularly by a vet.You may find that the Guinea pigs use one area of the cage as a toilet if so clean that part daily.If not clean the cage totally three times a week.
