We just got a guinea pig. how can i make it love me and not be scared?

Time. You are going to have to spend a lot of time with your new friend. Be sure to keep it in a quiet place and like I said you will have to just spend a lot of time with it.

just let it do its thing. give it love, let it out of its cage to play, give it what it needs.

Did you JUST get it? Any new small animal/reptile/bird should be left alone for at least 48 hours before you attempt to play with the/hold them/etc. They need time to adjust to their new environment before you add more new (and scary the the piggy) things.

It will take alot of time. Guinea pigs are natural prey animals so they get scared very easily. Offer fresh veggies, sit by his/her cage and talk, don't sneak up on him/her and grab the guinea pig. Keep it in a place you go often, Say your living room because he will hear, see and get used to people walking around him and all the noise. Don't put him away in some quite room, he will get used to that, then when you move him into a high traffic area you will be back at square one. He will be scared and frightened
