Today (the second day of his work), I came upstairs and noticed that one window shade is closed. I opened it and found out that the window is broken. It was an aluminum double-pane sliding window, left and right slider. Left part was broken.

I said: "Oh, the window is broken".

And the guy replied, "It is probably from the hot weather" (?)

I did notice that he had his equipment in this room, which means he was working on that room.

Also, on these two days he was telling us about any imperfections of our house, and he did not mention the broken window. When the bank performed an appraisal of our condo, there was no any recording of the broken window.

What can we do about this issue?

1. What legal standing do we have on that?

2. What kind or repair can be done OR we need to buy a new window?

3. How much would it cost to repair or to buy new window?

  1. You discovered this AFTER you purchased?

Sorry, but you don't have any legal standing.

I don't know who the guy you are referring to is, but at the end of the day you should have the home inspected by a home inspector as a pre-condition for sale.

I'm not a repair specialist, but it sounds like you need a new window. To find out how much they cost, and how to install it, go to your closest Homedepot or Rona.

  2. Hot weather does not break double paned windows. That's the reason they make them.

This dude broke your window & lied to you about it.

I'd request that HE replace it or you report in to the BBB.

It would cost around $200 (depending on the size) to replace thermal windows.

  3. 1.  I think you don't have any legal standing, that you'll have to track down.  Did you do a walk through before you bought the house?

    2.  Take that section of the window out and find a place that sells just window sections and put it back together.

    3.  new window if someone else installs, 300-500 dollars.
