  1. Eucalyptus oil

  2. you can use lighter fluid, or "goo gone". My mom used to use that to take gum off of carpet. You can get it at wal mart.

  3. Wish I knew, I'm going to be watching your answers. I asked a little while ago about getting glued down carpet up, but have received no answers. Don't use lighter fluid, that would be a fire hazard. Goo-gone would work, but you'd need gallons of it and it's sold in small bottles. If you get an answer that works would you please email me?

  4. ah i did that before in our bathroom, we had sheet linoleum stuff, but the water messed it up, so i took it out, then underneath it was another layer of tile, the individual kind, and when i pulled that tile up, it was very sticky underneath like what you are mentioning, and i was trying to get rid of the stickiness for days, but i didn't get very far. so, i grabbed a hammer and i removed all the wooden floor boards the sticky stuff was on, that was my solution, sticky stuff gone. i put a layer of plywood all nice and even with that um, cement stuff that fills the porous wood and evens it out, then i put down some beautiful new tile and our bathroom looks great. hope your project turns out nice too! i still can't believe we had like 3 floors! i made it all normal and now our toilet is too high hehe.

however, if you don't have 10 floors to remove like me and the stickiness is on the bottom structure layer of floor, the thing that worked the best for us was a sander thingy.

    enjoy your project. =)

  5. It depends on what glue was used on the florring tile..even if self sticking..some use a latex based adheisive so use denatured alcohol if this is the case..if the glue was a solvent based then common lacquer thinner will work... Denatured alcohol will cost about 10.00 a gallon...goo gone contains  denatured alcohol and if you buy these little cans expect to pay about 30 to 40 dollars a gallon instead of 10.00....for the same basic thing

  6. No offense to any who answer, but what you're asking, in any resolution will be messy and tedious.

I have a question however. What is your intent for after the fact? Hopefully not the same type flooring.

In any case, if it was my house, or I was asked to do the job, I'd probably install a new sub floor over, making sure the residue was at least free of any tile chips or large areas of too much adhesive.
