worry about earth quakes? There is supose to be a big one any day now and it could hurt a lot of people, don't they tell people in California so they can move away from there?

We live in tornado alley but I don't worry about tornados.

They always happen to someone else. Is that how they feel about earth quakes? Every since I was small they say "there is going to be a tornado" we have 100 year old houses in town and they are still there.

  1. sure they tell the people in California but the weather is so nice there almost all year around. people have aways lived in dangerous places they all most always are the nicest places.

I would never say it can't happen to me because then it likely will never say never.

  2. I think most of the ppl are very optimistic and feel the odd of getting hurt in earth quake around their house is zero cause they just can`t believe a peaceful house can have anything horrible could happen.  But the bad news is when they realized the power of earthquake, it`s almost too late.

Beside the early earth quake warning from your TV boardcasting (rarely works), you can observe the insects or animals' abnormal behaviour, such as many insects and rats try to get out to the surface, then u know earthquake is coming real soon.

  3. I used to live in Southern CA and we had earthquakes all the time. you can't sit and worry about them, they will happen when they happen. all you can do is just be prepared with a plan of action for when an earthquake does hit

  4. YES

  5. No more than people back east worry about hurricanes, or you worry about tornados.  I have lived with earthquakes in California for well over 50 years.  They don't happen all that often in the same place, and when they do, we just ride it out until the shaking stops.  The scenario for an impending "big one" is just that; a scenario.  It is a what if so emergency agencies can better prepare for IF a large quake hits.  Predicting quakes is still in the dark ages, and some say animals, birds, rats, snakes, etc. can let us know.  Not all the time!   Small tremors usually go un-noticed, medium ones just remind us of where we live, and we (native Californians anyway) are well-prepared for a big one.
