We let ourselves down at Dubai - Andrew Strauss
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964, on Tuesday admitted that they did not play well in the first Test at Dubai, which his side comprehensively lost by 10 wickets.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the second Test, the English opener said that they were totally out of sorts at Dubai and there were no excuses for the 10-wicket humiliation.
“We clearly let ourselves down at Dubai, we got to hold up our hands and say there are no excuses for that," said the English skipper at the pre-match media conference. "It's obviously disappointing and certainly not getting runs in the last game was disappointing
for me,” he added further.
The two openers, Strauss and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AN-Cook-c1026, will mark their 100th inning together, and the Skipper said that the Abu Dhabi Test is a big challenge for him and hoped his side would bounce back to keep their chances alive in the series.
Asked about his own form, the 34-year-old left-handed batsman said: "I do think I've been hitting the ball well and hopefully that means there's a nice recipe in place to go on and get a big score."
It is pertinent to mention here that the left-hander has not scored a century since December 2010, when he managed three figures against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 at Brisbane.
Replying to a query regarding the wicket at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imtiaz-Sheikh-c64290 Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, Strauss hoped it would be a batting paradise where bowlers would struggle for wickets.
"At the moment it looks a very good wicket, there's no doubt about that. We are expecting it to be very good wicket for batting," said the 34-year-old South Africa born England opener.
England lost two Tests in a row in July of 2008, against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755
in the current series.
Third Test of the series will be played at Dubai International Stadium on February 3, 2012. England will be hoping to win the last two Test matches.
