We lost wickets at crunch moments of the game, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898 – Cricket News Update
Mohammad Hafeez, the Pakistan captain, is extremely disappointed after losing a Super 8 encounter against the arch-rivals India, and admitted that losing wickets at crunch moments cost his side the match.
India outclassed the Green Shirts by eight wickets to keep their hopes alive in the tournament. With http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and India are in contention to take the 2nd spot and
move forward in the event from Group 2, which is considered to be tougher of the two Super 8 pools.
Having won the toss, Hafeez, quite surprisingly, elected to bat first, which was a strange move according to many experts, taking into account India’s ability to chase down totals without trouble.
Pakistan’s batting proved to be vulnerable once again, being bowled out for just 128 runs in the innings’ last over, which was never going to be enough for a batting line-up of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s calibre.
The all-rounder, while expressing his views after the match, admitted that India were a much better side on the day. Hafeez was all praise for Kohli, who smashed a 61-ball 78, which took the game away from the Green Shirts.
The skipper put the blame on his batsmen for putting up an ordinary show as 128 was a below-par total even on a slow Premadasa track, which was assisting the spinners.
"Today, India played better cricket than Pakistan, there is no doubt," Hafeez said. "Kohli was excellent tonight, but I don't think there was anything missing as far as our body language was concerned. We really wanted to win the game, but unfortunately
we kept losing wickets at regular intervals, so we couldn't come back after the first ten overs."
The cricketer from Sargodha further added that his men must enhance their fielding skills, if they want to proceed in the tournament.
"We were looking for a few early strikes when India batted, but once we couldn't get those wickets early on, India got on top of us. We need to improve our fielding. We still have a chance," the skipper mentioned.
