We may not see a US Open Champion at The British Open for the second Time in the last five years!
Webb Simpson is already signaling that he may skip The British Open starting July 19..  The reason behind this decision is the birth of his second child. His wife, Dowd, is expecting in  July. For Simpson, the decision is simple because his first priority
is his family.
The US Open champion plans to be at his home when his wife gives birth..
"We have not made any official decisions because we are going to go to the doctor next week and get an up-to-date projection on the baby," Simpson said on Friday, after his second round at the Travelers Championship, in Connecticut.
The Open begins on the 19th of July and he is focusing on his family, rather than being at the Open.. Webb is the guy who simply loves his family and believes that tournaments can be played at any time of a career but his family needs him at this
moment of time..
Simpson reminisced about the birth of his first child and recalled it as the greatest experience of his entire life.
Simpson believes that he is a crowd pleaser and he is still getting used to the new life style after winning the US Open. He  recently turned down offers for  late night talk shows and  is prioritizing his family after winning the US Open.
Bubba Watson had a few words of advice for Simpson. Watson believes that after the US Open win, Simpson will have more fan following and media coverage.
However, Watson emphasized that it is the agent who should cope with the media and the fans and let the US Open champion stay out of the limelight. Simpson should spend most of his time with his family until he decides to come back to the game of golf.
Simpson is in touch with his wife and is wishing to see his family soon.
“I have been talking to her a lot and doing the video thing with my boy, trying to stay connected, but I am certainly ready to get home”.
It was in 2008 when Tiger Woods had to go through a knee surgery, which became a reason for him to miss out on the British Open.
