The defence put in a poor performance as the Southampton players were given way too many chances to attack. Carragher missed the game due to an injury and his absence proved to be a huge loss for the former European champions.
Rodgers claimed that the defenders need to work hard to improve their form ahead of the remaining course of the campaign. He admitted that the players were disappointed with the loss and are raring to get over the defeat.
