right now we currently have a 2007 vw jetta. we have 2 huge dogs a lab mix and a st. bernard mix, and one kitten. well, we have a baby on the way in october and we always travel with our two dogs if we go anywhere. the car was jsut enough room between the two. they were a bit snug but it was ok. now the baby is coming and we will be cramped. so we are going to sell our car in september and get a new one. what's all out there... big, roomy, and gas friendly. any suggestions would help bunches. my pups are my first kids and no it's not an option to get rid of either of them.

  1. You're probably gonna pay a few grand in depreciation so be concerned about that. I'd look at a wagon over an SUV/CUV since they tend to have as much space. Look at something like a used Subaru Legacy GT wagon or if you want to stay with V-Dub go with a Passat Wagon.

  2. Usually Japanese cars/SUV better on gas than American made.. For SUV I would say Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot if You like the styling. Nissan Murano is very popular too.. Did you consider Minivan? Toyota Sienna? Great on gas for the size.  Might be boring looking, We loved driving it. Fast too, (tried 110mph and it, rpm under 3000, amazing...) Not that You want to speed with the baby and the dogs.. Use Edmunds.com to compare models, for pricing, user reviews,  all info's. Good luck!

  3. Well if you are going a SUV there are crossovers to consider:

Ford Taurus X, GMC Acadia, Hyundai Veracruz, Subaru Tribeca, Ford Flex, Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, Suzuki XL-7

But if you are still looking for a car go for the:

Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Ford Taurus, Chevrolet Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Hyundai Azera, Toyota Avalon, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300, Saturn Aura

    Hope this helps!

  4. Unless you are open to getting a minivan (Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna) seriously, check out the Honda Element.

It was made for people in your situation.

The back seats fold up on the sides of the car.

Plus, it gets about 25 mpg highway.

Check out the honda site with configurations.  It really is a cool vehicle.

  6. the Jeep Comander is great and it good looking. You should consider it. It'd be a fun car, but do everything you need.

  7. Kia Rondo

The Kia Rondo is a five-door crossover vehicle that debuted at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show. Based on the front-wheel-drive platform of the Kia Optima, the Rondo is shaped like a small minivan offering spacious legroom and headroom. Sharing engine, transmission and chassis components with the Optima, the Rondo is offered with a 162-horsepower 2.4-liter engine or a 182-horsepower 2.7-liter V6. The four cylinder comes with a 4-speed automatic while the V6 has a 5-speed automatic. Available in 5- and 7-passenger versions, the Rondo offers optional third-row seating that can fold down in a 50/50 split.
