“We need a really good manager who can organise and strategise,” says Nadzmi Salleh
Finally, Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has decided to appoint a head coach as national body’s president Datuk Nadzmi Mohd Salleh confirmed the news after an executive meeting.
BAM had to face the music when couple of foreign coaches left the national setup after having some difference with coaching and training committee (CTC).
Moreover, recent failures of national campaigners in international events doubled the trouble and many former players raised voices against their working style.
The badminton critics insisted to appoint a supremo to design the strategy for national squad and put it into action.
It seems BAM felt the heat as Datuk Nadzmi admitted that a genius is needed to put them on right track. He briefed the media that new chief coach must know tricks of the trade as he will have to manage world’s finest talent.
He said, “We need a really good manager – one who can organise and strategise. He must have strong managerial skills and the ability to work well with others. He also needs the technical expertise.”

Moreover, Nadzmi also stated that the badminton guru will enjoy maximum powers but he will be accountable to CTC.
He hoped that new head coach will come with long term planning and won’t change strategies after every tournament.
He said, “The project manager will be given clear responsibilities of his job. And he will be given the authority to fulfil his responsibilities. He will have to be accountable for all his actions.”
The Supremo will be called “Project Manager” and he will have to look after Malaysia’s elite squad along with special squads for 2016 and 2020 Olympics.
However, Project Manager will have the authority to have assistant coaches to run these programmes efficiently.
The President of BAM also hoped that new coach will find no trouble to accomplish his task as he will have full support of the association.
Nadzmi also revealed that they are not considering any foreigner for this post which means Park Joo Bong of South Korea does not stand any chance.
Meanwhile, Rashid Sidek and Tan Kim Her will continue with their current responsibilities, Chief Coaches for Men’s Singles and Doubles teams respectively.
