Question:

We need more cable wakeboard parks?

I use to live in Orlando and I would go to the watersports complex to go wakeboarding. What makes this park special is the cable system they use to pull the boarder,

It's alot cheaper then renting a boat and more people can ride at a time then just using a boat.

Now that I live in Atlanta I realized how much I took the park for granted. It turns out there are only 6 cable parks in all the USA. 2 in florida, 2 in Texas and 1 kansas and I think 1 is opening up in Oklahoma.

With gas prices going up towing a boat on your Ford f-250 to a lake and then having to use gas to run a large boat can get expensive. What I see is a good business opportunity.

I don't know why there isn't that built yet. In Europe there is like 50 (just an estimate). My guess is because gas over there is really expensive compared to here. We actually have some of the cheapest gas prices in the world.

So why has the market yet to take off? Maybe I'm missing some facts and someone who know more on this can help?

  2. I didn't realize that OWC was only one of six! Wow...that gives me a new perspective.

  3. there are actually more than 100 in europe.   the thinking is that americans are too ready to buy the boats so why risk the investment on a park.

  4. I know, I'm a pro wakeboarder, and I even get sick of going behind the boat sometimes. I live in CO full time and it'd be nice to have a cable park, cause you could board in the winter.  I've been to one of the cable parks in Florida, and it was awesome. My friend and I were talking about that the other day, when I retire from the sport, I should open up a cable park. It'd be an industry that really takes off. Because there are a lot of recreational wakeboarders that can't progress in the sport because they have no boat.

I personally think that once a week or month or something, they should open up community pools as cable parks. That'd be awesome.
