We're supposed to provide dessert tomorrow evening at a small dinner party. Out of 8 people, 2 are diabetic. What sort of desserts would be something they could eat, but also be sweet enough for everyone to enjoy?

  1. Use Splenda instead of sugar or desserts that have the label "no sugar added", like some jellos, puddings, etc.

  2. jello poke cake, take an angel food cake that comes in a tinfoil pan like you get right in the grocery store, leave it in that pan, make a package of sugar free jello, orange, lemon or cherry are my favs, poke the cake a bunch of times with a straw or the handle of a wooden spoon, pour the jello over it and put it in the fridge till it is set up, dip it in hot water for a second and flip it over on a plate, it should slide right out of the tinfoil pan, and garnish with sugar free or fat free cool whip, my whole family loves it, even the non diabetics, good luck

  3. hi you could do something like a baked honey pear and just use less honey on the pears for the diabetics or a berry crumble if you made these individually you can use less sugar i think by making 8 small single desserts you maybe able to come up with something check this link for ideas . diabetes.webmd.com/features/7-healthy-de... i am a chef and have to deal with all sort of diet requirements hope this helps Adam p.s i see people say about using artificial sweeteners i would advise you to always stay clear of these as the chemical aspartame they use in them and all diet drinks an no sugar  products is really bad for the body you would  be better off eating sugar

        * 3 cups cold skim milk

        * 2 pkg (4 serving size) vanilla flavor sugar free instant pudding and pie filling

        * 1 8 oz tub sugar free whipped topping, thawed and divided

        * 48 sugar free vanilla wafers

        * 1/2 cup brewed strong decaffeinated coffee

        * 2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate, coarsely grated, reserve 1 teaspoon

Beat cream cheese in large bowl with electric mixer until creamy. Gradually beat in milk. Add both dry pudding mixes and mix well. Stir in 2 cups whipped topping. Line bottom and sides of a 2 1/2 quart bowl or trifle dish with half the vanilla wafers. Pour 1/2 of coffee over wafers. Layer 1/2 pudding mixture on top of wafers and top with 1/2 of grated chocolate. Repeat layers starting with vanilla wafers, drizzle with coffee, etc. Top with remaining whipped topping, a teaspoon grated chocolate, and fresh berries, if desired. 6. Well from my experience from working at a retirement home, we serve them anything from sugar free pies to sugar free puddings. And me being a cook for the past 25 years they are pretty good if I may say so myself. We order them from our food providers but they can be found at the local stores like brand names like chef pierre, pilsbury,to name a few. They especially like the apple and cherry sugar free pies :) .. and if you look in the bakery isle at your store, look for betty crocker sugar free cake mixes. You will be very surprised at what is availeable.

  7. My daughter is a diabetic since she was 9 years old. The doctor told us the best thing would be Angel Food Cake. I hope this will help.

Also there are lots of diabetic cookbooks out there. Hope you have a great party.
