The Hoffenheim defender reckons that his side’s inability to score goals on a consistent basis is probably one reason of their downfall recently.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Williams-c10102 admits that his team lacks fluency upfront and needs to introduce a certain flow to their game in order to be successful in the future assignments.
He stated that Hoffenheim are well aware of their weaknesses and players are trying extremely hard to overcome them. He was talking in the wake of his team’s 1-1 draw against Werder Bremen on Saturday, February 11, at the Weserstadion.
The sweeper reckons that Hoffenheim lacked momentum during the game despite going into the lead early through Jannik Vestergaard. The Danish defender scored early in the fourth minute. The visitors hung on to their lead for the
best part of 86 minutes before conceding an equaliser in the dying moments of the match.
Williams believes that his side lacks venom and admitted that the defending has also been below par in the last few games. However, he feels that Hoffenheim will return to winning ways as there is a lot of hard work being put in
by the players.
While addressing the official Bundesliga website, the young USA international further added:
“Of course that's a problem, but the solution is to be found elsewhere. The new boss has already touched upon that: We need to be more compact and bring a bit more composure into our game, whether we play in a 4-4-2 or a 4-4-1-1
formation.”
Williams also commented on the strong impact of the new manager, Markus Babbel. The former Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 boss took charge of the club after Holger Stanislawski was sacked on February 09. The player mentioned that the new boss has
already addressed these concerns, but the whole team needs to step up if the club wants to make their way into the next season’s UEFA Europa League.
“Even if he'd only been there a day, he'd already communicated to us that the basis for any success is an organised defence. We know we're all good footballers, but in our current situation we need to accept the fight as a team.
There's no other way,” Williams concluded.
Hoffenheim are currently 11th on the league standings with 25 points, six short of the sixth placed Bayer Leverkusen. Babbel’s men will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 on Friday, February 17, at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena.
