  1. Do not spend a week city-hopping. You will spend more time travelling than you will actually doing interesting things. Whilst in Rome, in November, a couple of years ago, we met some people who were doing what you are thinking of. We were spending a week, in Rome, without leaving the city; believe me, we didn't do much more than scratch the surface. The people we met were trying to do Rome in a day. Big mistake. They were half-way round the Forum, knackered, and obviously suffering from 'if it's Wednesday, it must be Venice' syndrome. Italy is a country crammed with history, sights, great cuisine and going to more than one or two cities in a week will reduce it to a half-remembered blur. I would recommend Rome, or failing that, splitting the week between Verona and Venice. Florence/Siena is also a good split week. Don't do anything daft like trying to include Milan and Naples in the same tour: Italy is a very long, thin country.

  2. Hi,

I would suggest you choose one or at the most two cities for one week.

Start with Rome or Florence. You can easily go by train between these two places.

    Have a nice trip!
