We plan on getting BroadVoice phone Services... Can we use it away from internet modem?

Because that would mean the phone would be in my room, and we want it in the living room...

I looked at the FAQ and it said:

Do I need a computer?

Do I need to have my computer turned on to talk on the phone?

No. The BroadVoice service works independently from your computer, so you do not need a computer. Additionally, your computer does not need to be turned on when using BroadVoice. You do need to have a broadband Internet connection.

that didn't quite answer my question... so, help?

  1. Don't know what you mean by 'away from the internet modem' but along with your Broadband phone service you will need either one box (a combination router and telephone adapter) or two boxes (a router and a seperate telephone adapter).

Take a look at the link below, it shows a good picture.

What you do is run a regular phone wire from the telephone adapter to where ever you want your phone to be.

  2. They will send you phone modem and you must connect that modem with your internet modem and you ready to go. If you have time just visit this site http://www.phone.helptopost.com

  3. You need to get cordless phone system that allows multiple phone add-ons.

With the cordless phone base unit plugged into the VoIP ATA adapter in your room, then you can pickup your calls in other rooms of the house using the extension add-on cordless phones.

I use this setup in my home.  I have my ATA box upstairs in my office and Panasonic 5.8 Ghz base station plugged into it.  Then I have a cordless extension phone downstairs in kitchen - works great.

Otherwise, you need a wireless router and a wireless bridge adapter for your ATA VoIP box to plug into in another room of house.
