We planted a rose bush this spring. It is growing like rapidly but there are no roses or buds. What can I do?

  1. On the good wood, cut just above a leaf  leaving about half an inch between cut and leaf,  don't be afarid to go down to decent thick wood, bout 1/4 inch thickness make sure it is outwards pointing you don't want it bunching. if brown in centre where you prune cut this out as is die back .


  2. Your rose bush is very very happy.  So confident in his survival that he hasn't bothered to flower.  As he is  only new he has put  his growth into foliage and not flowers.

    Fertilizer you are using is causing  leaf growth at the expense of bloom.  buy a fertilizer that encourages flowering and use this instead.  

    Trim the longest couple of branches buy a third and as suggested to an outward facing bud and they shoud produce a flower in about 6 weeks.

    They don't necessarily produce a lot of flowers in the first year they just establish themselves.

  3. There is a bloom enhancer that can be purchased from any garden store or Home Depot/Lowes Just sprinkle it around the rose as directed and water
