We have canned lots of green beans, sold some to our neighborhood farmers market, But we still are going to have too many. Can we let them dry out shell them (we have a hand crank pea sheller BTW) and use them like 'great northern' dried beans? These are 'blue lake' beans. Thanks

  1. Why not donate them to charity?I'm sure an aged person's home or orphanage could use them. BTW, I always grow Blue Lake, they are the best fruiters of all.

  2. Dry them and shell them then bag up where they don't get alot of moisture..they will be a nice white bean when  dried..

  3. Absolutely!  And if you still have too many, chop them and the plants up with a tiller in the fall so they become compost over the winter and therefore add tilth (texture) to next years garden soil.
