Vitesse boss John van Den Brom: we played well and deserved the victory – Dutch Eredivisie news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 Arnhem head coach, John van den Brom, expressed contentment following his side’s 1-0 triumph over De Graafschap at De Vijverberg Stadion on Sunday, October 30.
The Vitesse boss stressed that his troops staged an impressive show and deservingly emerged victorious away from home. The 45-year-old tactician, however, admitted that his side could have won the match by a bigger margin, but they failed to capitalise on
their opportunities.
“I am a happy coach. We played well, not gave away any chance. It was a well deserved victory. The only thing that my team failed to accomplish was they failed to extend their lead further after going ahead 1-0. We failed to exploit the given opportunities,
making the victory a little hectic in the closing stages of the match”, Van den Brom said while talking to the media.
The outfit from Arnhem dominated the match in the early stages but as the game progressed, the home side started to show resistance. Wilfried Bony missed an opportunity in the 18th minute while the hosts’ goalkeeper easily saved Georgi Chanturia’s
strike.
Graafschap’s best goal scoring opportunity came from a mistake, when Tomas Kalas gifted the ball to Gregor Breinburg. However, his shot from the edge of the box sailed over the crossbar.
The second-half was a similar tale until the 70th minute, when the outfit from Arnhem broke the deadlock through Bony. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicky-Hofs-c27732 fed the striker from the left and he made no mistake in hitting the back of the net.
Six minutes later, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alexander-Büttner-c4818 could have doubled the lead but he sent the ball wide of the target and the chance went begging. When the referee blew the whistle to end the game, the score-line read 1-0 in favour of Vitesse.
All three points ensured that the outfit from Arnhem climb up in the league table to occupy the fourth spot, seven points behind the league leaders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar and a lone point ahead of the fifth placed Ajax Amsterdam.
Vitesse will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NAC-Breda-c39983 in their upcoming league encounter at Rat Verlegh Stadion on Saturday, November 5.
