Before we moved she did fine. She didn't love being in there, but would go in on command and slept fine through the night and stayed in there when we weren't home. Now, we can't sleep because she whines, howls, and scratches the door all night. We've tried making it more comfortable and have even put it right next to the bed, but she is still hating it. What to do now?

  1. YOUR THE BOSS .... CAN'T LET HER GET WHATS SHE WANTS.. NEW PLACE OR NOT ...... I have pillows in my crate ... just have to ignore the crys .. and give her a treat when she doesn't cry ..... just crate train her all over again.....DON'T MAKE IT FEEL LIKE THE CRATE IS A BAD PLACE... MAKE IT FUN AND ENJOYABLE FOR HER... MAKE IT HER CAVE !!!!!

  2. try letting her out more often  shes frightened and very insecure.

if you dont calm her down she will get ill

  3. Boy, thats a tough one! She obviously knows that she is in unfamiliar surroundings. The only thing i can say is that she will take some time to get used to it...she'll come around soon enough! good luck!

  4. well in know with my dog we left it in a room in the beggining and he did the same thing and it was very annoying..then we let him sleep in our room  and we really have no problem with it,,,its no big deal if your dog sleeps with you so my advice give in my dog is still obdient

  5. Umm..... when my dog was a puppy he stayed in a crate overnight, but only because we thought he might get out and chew something. If you're dog is old enough to not do something like that, then elt her sleep on a dog bed on the floor, not a crate, you have to imagine it would be pretty uncomftorable for you. Otherwise, try buying a bigger crate and putting pillows, blankets, and toys in there with your dog and it should relax/enjoy it more. If he/she continues whining, use the age-old training method of shaking a jar of shells, nails, beads, etc. next to the dog's head to discourage it from doing something. It may seem cruel, but it is very effective and is an easy and harmless method.

  6. to calm down dogs (and cats) in cages and carriers, i've always put a blanket or towel over the cage. i dont know why it helps, but it usually works
