I have had problems with the fuel pump for the past three years, I have replaced it bout 4 times. About a month ago, it stopped working again. My husband took it out of the fuel tank, tested it and it was working. So, he put it back and last week it left me stranded again. There has to be some other problem. Any suggestions???? What else could be causing this?

  1. suspect the fuel pump relay also check the wiring connection under the vehicle near the back of the cab wiring to fuel pump

  2. could be wiring.  some after market pumps from auto parts stores are not as good quality as oem from dealer.  put three pumps from auto parts store in a van, that did not work.  finally bit the bullet, and got pump from dealer and didn't have any problems.  just my opinion.

  3. the carb? Maybe the fuel lines?

  4. that's not the fuel pump doing that probably the relay for the fuel pump is causing most of the problems try replacing it,they will do exactly what yours is doing,id also check the wiring going back to the pump there could be a problem with it also, good luck with it.

  5. Could be several things.  Fuel filter, clogged injectors, or it could even be vapor locking (people say a fuel injected car can't vapor lock, but they can, if it gets hot enough).  If it happens again, remove the fuel cap for a few minutes, replace, and try to start it again.
