Why are these people doing this? I'm sure he isn't a vet! What do you think?

  1. He's allegedly Chinese which would explain some of the odd grammar.  His answers do seem to indicate some medical knowledge.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.  And of course we're free to disagree with him in print if we think he's given bad advice.

I would agree that we don't see many (or any...) vets out here.  But maybe he's between jobs.  Or heck, maybe in China and he doesn't have any nightlife!

  2. yeah its weird how someone who is a vet uses improper spelling and english. I worked for a vet for a year and anything  that comes out of their mouth is more scientific. AKA big words and no stupid answers.

  3. Hmmm.  I'm not sure why you don't think he's a vet.  I looked at his answers to some questions and he really does seem to have true medical knowledge and he understands medical terminology and uses it correctly.  He also spells names of drugs correctly -- and some of them are not easy to spell, even for people whose main language is English.  Given the fact that he's Chinese and is still able to spell medical terms and drugs correctly, I have to assume that he's been educated in the field he claims.  I've worked both in the veterinary field and currently in the human medical field and I can tell you that a lot of things are similar in animals and humans and that's why he's able to answer some questions about human medical conditions.  However, in one of his answers, he was professional enough to qualify his answer by stating that he's not a HUMAN doctor and advised that the asker seek advice from a medical doctor.  As for vets not having time to answer questions on YA, well, I'm not sure.  I know that I work full-time (sometimes MORE than full-time) and I still find time (during my lunch breaks or for a little while after work) to get on the computer and look at and answer a few questions -- it's just something I like to do to relax a bit to take my mind off of all the other things I have to do.  So, again, I'm not exactly sure why you think that Tony isn't really a vet.  He seems a lot more intelligent than some of the others who have claimed to be vets.

  4. I am going with the first answer...I have seen some of this guys answers and they are a bunch of bull.  And it doesnt take a "vet" to know that.
