The former head coach of Cagliari has gone on to give his judgement on the Tuesday night match against the Rosanero, and feels they deserved to be victorious.
The Rossoneri outfit have been under heavy criticism for their highly disappointing start to the 2012-13 season. Besides their start to the Serie A season, they have also come under heavy criticism for their activity in the summer transfer window as well.
After bidding farewell to a number of key players, and in total 13 players, the owners of the club were showered with negative press and furthermore their squad has been deemed by many to be one of the weakest Milanello squads of recent years.
For a team having won numerous Scudetto and being the Italian team to have won the Champions League for the most number of times, the current squad is galaxies away from even being compared to such teams.
The disappointment and feelings of distraught are obvious and for everyone to see, as they have been used to foreseeing great Rossoneri sides fighting in the Champions League; and their current form leaves much to be desired from. This has left the Diavolo
outfit open to much criticism, and the head coach of the club, Massimiliano Allegri, comes under fire every time they lose. Thereby, whenever Milan draw against relative minnows and lose against teams, talks about Allegri getting the chop have surfaced, and
that too on regular occasions.
This was the case when the Rossoneri outfit faced the Rosanero outfit on Tuesday. In what was a fixture that the Milanello should have been looking to win, the San Siro outfit were trailing 2-0 against Gian Piero Gasperini’s men.
While commenting on the formations he had in mind, and how he thought the match went, Allegri went on to remark:
“This is the first time this season we’ve been able to fight back to get a result, which has to be a good sign. In the second half we created so many chances and tended to just get the final pass wrong. Despite playing badly in the first half, the penalty
could’ve been avoided. The lads did well after the break and we fully deserved the draw. In fact, we could well have won it.”
The Rossoneri came back to draw the match, leaving Gasperini fuming over the result of the match.
