  1. If for no other reason, it will save you money.

  2. Carbon Dioxide absorbed into the ocean is acidic and therefore degrades the exoskeletons of krill etc which changes the whole food chain and often the dieting habits of species further up.

That's true, but seriously, if you haven't figured this one out yet, tell me which rock you've been living under and I'll come lift it up for you :)

    No offence meant.

    Jon

And also we waste so much money and resources compared to other developing countries it's just disgusting. We really need to stop being so materialistic.

  3. Most of our energy resources are not renewable and are therefore subject to run out.

  4. Because if we do not the there will not be enough energy for us to be asking questions on a friend laptop/computer

  5. answer with some humor to it: If we save enough energy up, we can send another person sitting on death row to the electric chair instead of spending thousands of dollars a day keeping them locked up.

Answer with a little less seriousness to it: If we save enough energy, we might be able to land mars on planet earth so we can begin strip mining it!

We can keep some green in our pockets by saving energy...everyone loves that shade of green!

Using less power now allows the oil giants to not have to sell the oil right now...they can wait to sell it to us till it's more expensive!

Truth be told, I don't think we will quit using non-renewable energy sources until either we run out of them, or we perish into extinction.

I like to save my energy while everyone else is working real hard of a morning at work. Then when they are worn out, I look so much better because I am the only one at work that is working hard!

  6. If everyone cut back 10%, then 10% more people could use the same amount of energy. This would then require fewer power generating stations, and less fuel (of whatever source) to be used. We will be saving those fuels for future generations of humans. Unless we are using renewable fuels, but even in that case, energy and resources are required to produce the solar panels or whatever.

  7. The US is 4% of the worlds population, but we use 25% of the worlds energy. If we continue we will eventually face an energy crisis. The sources of most of our energy is coal and oil, both are finite, will continue to go up in price as demand increases and are the cause of much of our pollution. Our air quality is degrading in this country which has lung problems like asthma dramatically increasing in our children and elderly.

Are those enough reasons, or should I go on about how improving our current quality of life will likely dramatically decrease the quality of life for your children and grandchildren.

  8. we waste a lot on really silly questions

  9. It will save you money and it's also good for the economy.

OTOH energy efficiency is what got us into this whole global warming mess (look up Jevons paradox).  If you want to save the planet you'll have to look elsewhere (i.e. at the power plants that make the electricity) otherwise you run the risk of making the problem worse.
