He also insisted that the three points against the Sportinguistas were not only due to the efforts of the team and claimed that the fans also deserved applause for setting up a wonderful atmosphere in Lisbon.
"Once again I want to highlight the importance of our fans in last Saturday’s derby. Their support was very important for us and it helped us win,” Javi Garcia was quoted as saying.
With Benfica slowly starting to exercise their dominance over other teams, the title race is heating up and Jorge Jesus’ men are likely to be celebrating in May if they can continue to churn out these kind of performances.
