As per my experience one can travel the world at less budget with following calculations:

USD350 per oneway flight+hotel transfers  and USD60 per day.for hotel and food per day. Plus USD50 on average per country visa.

Though its not valid but in every region of the world you can find things in this budget if well researched.

if you are in India, then i suggest to India - Bangkok - Hongkong (can include shenzhen, china) - St. Petersburg, Russia, - Rome, Italy - London, UK - New York, USA  -  Brazil - South Africa - Dubai - back to India

Try minimum 3 days per location, this way you might have traveled and seen most diversities of the word

It all depends on your destinations and the type of holidays you want.  Budget  or luxurious custom-made travel?

Check out the advertisements for the price and itinerary as they can be very different.  All these can be done with your local tour agent or surf the internet for the best deal.  Booking ahead can save you some money.  It's the same with last minute deals.

Just make sure your passports, cash and credit cards are valid and ready at any time.
