Question:

We think my cat ate my husband's wedding band?

My husband's wedding ring is a little too big, so he has to take it off before he takes showers. He took it off two days ago & we haven't seen it since. My cat has an issue with anything being on countertops, tables, and furniture of any kind. He'll climb onto the arm of the couch just to smack the TV remote onto the floor. He likes to pull the placemats off the kitchen table. Etc.

We can't find my hubby's ring anywhere. We've used a flashlight to check under the fridge, couch, bed, all furniture, and stove. We have ceiling air vents, so there is no chance that it fell down through one. We've checked in the bathroom trashcan, all the drawers, shelves, and cabinets. We just can't find it. Suppose my cat actually swallowed it.... how long would it take to be passed?

  1. Considering the small size, the cat could have rolled and batted it into a different room altogether.

But check INSIDE the couch, just in case it went between the cushions and with people sitting down it could have fallen all the way in.

Two days would pass anything in the cat, provided it didn't get stuck in the intestines (you'd need an x-ray for that then).  But that's really too large an item for a cat to swallow.

  2. Get  the cat Xrayed....or perhaps hubby left it @ a gf's house or a hotel.

  3. Well,if he did swallow it,  he is lucky he didn't choke......it's time you get the pooper scooper out and start searching..if you know what I mean.

Your husband might not be too happy, but hey,at least he will get his ring back.

If you can't find it anywhere, maybe you should consider taking your kitty to the vet to make sure   it hasn't done any damage to him.

  4. My dog swallowed one of dd socks one time it took about 2 days for her to pass it.  I called the vet and was told to give it a couple of days to see if it passed, he said to keep and eye on the dog to make sure she was eating ,and it did.  Are the cats indoor cats?  Where did it lay it down at?  It could of went down the sink.

I love the answer that automatically took your hubby to cheating.  I rarely wear my rings (my hands swell a lot through the day and my rings get really tight).  My husband is a mechanic in the Air Force and never wears his.  Just because someone takes off a wedding band or don't wear one does not automatically mean they are having an affair, geesh come on now why would someone even go there.

Anyway good luck on finding it.

  5. I would get down on the ground and try to look from your cats point of view. Chances are he swatted it under something. It's unlikely that he swallowed it but not impossible but an X-ray will confirm whether it's in him or not. You could try renting a metal detector and running it under furniture and obscure corners. Good luck, I 've had this happen before too but it always seems to turn up.

  6. seriously doubt that your cat swallowed the ring...cats arent that stupid..now I would believe he was batting it around somewhere and it got lost underneath a piece of furniture

  7. best bet would be to take the cat to be xrayed that way they can tell you if the kitty was able to pass it

  8. ur cat could have  knocked it down the drain my cat always dose that  and it pisses me off lol

  9. I second Princess, highly doubt the cat swallowed it.  Keep looking for it and "when" you find it (think positively) find an area for your husband to put the ring where it isn't so kitty accessible.

Then check the nearest pet store or catalog and get some toys, tree furniture, cat track, etc. to detract that kitty's attention elsewhere!
