We thoroughly deserved it, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steven-John-Rhodes-c91315 after Worcestershire qualified for FLt20 quarterfinals – Cricket News Update
The Worcestershire head coach Steve Rhodes said that his side thoroughly deserved a berth in the knockout stage of the ongoing 2012 Friends Life T20 campaign.
"We throughly deserved it,” said Rhodes during an interview with BBC Hereford & Worcester, after his side earned a spot in the last eight on this season’s Twenty20 tournament.
"We planned on having two overseas players and that didn't happen,” said the Worcestershire coach, whose county was let down by both of its overseas signings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sohail-Tanvir-c90665.
"But we had one goal for the Twenty20 and that was to qualify for the quarters and we've done that," he added further.
After finishing third in the Midlands group, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 qualified for the knockout stage on the basis of two places available for the third best placed finishers. The same criteria also apply to South Group's Essex's qualification for the quarter-finals.
This is the third time in 10 years that the Royals have qualified for the Flt20 quarter-finals.
Worcestershire will play http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 in the third last-eight match of the tournament, at Headingley, Leeds, on July 25 and Rhodes is confident that his side has the necessary firepower to outclass the North Group winners.
"We're one game away from finals day and now anything can happen," said Worcestershire’s director of cricket. “If we can pull in a performance like we did at Taunton, then we'll go close," he added further, referring to the 54-run drubbing of West Group

Rhodes also had a word of praise for West Group leaders, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843, whom his side lost the final group match by seven wickets and consequently had to settle for second spot on the table, further costing them a home quarter-final.
"Somerset are the Twenty20 kings in this country, if you like,” said the Worcestershire head coach.
"They invest a lot in it trying for the Champions League and put a lot of eggs in the basket in making sure they get there,” he added further.
The 2012 Flt20 knock out round will commence on July 24, with Somerset playing hosts to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783.
