The Biancocelesti sporting director has revealed that he wanted to re-sign the centre-back from AC Milan, but the player wanted to continue living in Milan.
Lazio sporting director, Igli Tare, has revealed that the club tried to make a move for Alessandro Nesta a year ago, but the proposition was snubbed by the player in favour of staying in the city of Milan.
The veteran defender is currently under negotiations with Major League Soccer outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Montreal-Impact-c39946, following the expiry of his contract with AC Milan.
Igli Tare revealed that he made a brief contact with Nesta last year when the player was out of contract, and stated that the defender did not want to leave the city of Milan at the moment.
The Biancocelesti sporting director explained that he felt the need for giving such a statement because he has heard rumours that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 had closed its doors on the defender, and he thought it was important to snub all such notions that bear no truth.
The Aquile chief maintained that Lazio has always cherished and welcomed ex-members of the outfit, and explained that the Eagles had to do without Nesta despite their desire, because the conditions did not allow the transfer.
While talking to the press, the Biancazzurri transfer chief said:
“Last year we tried to convince http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Nesta-c4735 to return to Lazio, but for family reasons he chose not to accept, because he wanted to continue living in Milan. I have heard that Lazio rejected the possibility of ever taking back Nesta, but this is not true. All people who are a part of Lazio’s history are always welcome. Unfortunately, there wasn’t the possibility and we had to accept the situation as it was.”
Nesta joined Lazio as a youth player, and went on to play for the senior side for nine years before moving to AC Milan.
Tare then turned his attention to rumours about the Aquile’s interest in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Burak-Yilmaz-c8206, and insisted that the club is doing everything it can to get a hold of the Turkish national.
The Eagles sporting director insisted that the negotiations are under way, and the press will have to wait on its completion before any statement is released on the subject.
