Bayer Leverkusen coach Sascha Lewandowski revealed that his club intend to make http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international Andre Schurrle the cornerstone of success.
Bayer Leverkusen finished 5th in the Bundesliga, some six points behind Borussia Monchengladbach who managed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League play-offs. The Werkself have not had stability in terms of managers.
In the past seven years, the club have had around six managers. The managerial instability has always affected the club.
This time around they have hired Sami Hyypia, a former player, and Sascha Lewandowski to manage the club. He helped finish the club in the top five of the league and aided the development of the club’s young players.
The latest young talent to star for the club is Andre Schurrle; the youngster arrived at the BayArena from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166. His performances in his debut season at the club were nothing less than spectacular as he featured 40 times and
scored nine goals in the process.
His sensational performances for Leverkusen resulted in a call up to Joachim Low’s 23 man squad for the 2012 European Championships. Schurrle featured twice for Germany at Euros and was quite impressive.
The winger's showing at Euros and in the Bundesliga attracted interest from several European clubs. Of all the interested clubs, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 tabled a concrete 20 million Euro bid for the attacker, which was reportedly rebuffed by his
club.
Leverkusen coach Sascha Lewandowski insists that the 21-year old has nothing to prove to his club, he states that the youngster has proved his commitment to the Werkself by staying at the club. He revealed that Leverkusen are ready
to build the team around the former Mainz man.
"Andre is not the one with something to prove. The fact that he's staying is a positive sign for everyone. We have huge goals, and we want to achieve them with him." He is quoted as saying in an interview.
The club’s sporting Director Rudi Voller claims that the offer from Chelsea should be enough to motivate him to be a top player. He revealed the youngster still has four years to run on his current deal and he has a lot of potential
to fulfil.
"Such an offer has to be enough of an incentive for him to get even better," he said. "Andre has a four-year contract. We are glad we have him. He still has great potential for development,"
The winger will get a lot of opportunities in the Bayer starting line-up and it will be up to him to utilize them to his advantage.
