We want to do well at home, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 de Villiers – Cricket News Update
Having a fantastic away season against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 this year, South Africa, is all set to kick-off their home summer against New Zealand later this month. Playing for the first time in-front of the home crowd since earning the Test mace in England,
the Proteas are looking to dominate the touring Kiwis, reflected the wicketkeeper batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887.
“We have to play as well as we played in Australia to showcase the fact that we are No.1 in the world in Test cricket. And we also want to do well at home,” shared de Villiers.
Reflecting that the Black Caps should not be underestimated, the limited over captain added, “We understand we are the favourites and should win if we play good cricket. We've got the mental advantage. They are one of those teams (New Zealand) that when
they get it right, they are hard to beat.”
Both sides are scheduled to play 3 T20Is & 2 Tests, followed by a 3-match ODI contest. Despite coming from a poor outing against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, where New Zealand was only able to grab a single Test victory in the entire tour, de Villiers expects the visitors
to give them a formidable competition in the limited-over fixtures.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 are a very busy team and they have a very good fielding unit so that's what makes them good in the T20s and ODIs,” said the 28-year old.
New Zealand is currently going through a hard time over the captaincy dispute between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mike-J-Hesson-c76286. Already suffering from left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori’s absence, losing their main middle-order batsman will challenge
them further.
On the other hand, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BB-McCullum-c1129, the newly appointed skipper, will find this as an opportunity to change New Zealand’s record in South Africa, where they have not been able to grab a single victory against the home side in any format since 2007.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Phangiso-c884 and the all-rounder Chris Morris likely to make their debuts in the first T20 at Durban.
