We want to go snowboarding ........?

We want to go to either andorra, spain or the alps mid january to do some snowboarding (never done it before). Going by train from uk. Can we just turn up, get accommodation and then board hire and passes. Most internet sites seem to be whole packages which we don't want. Any good websites.

I would not take a chance with this holiday,all resorts will be very busy and the chances of you turning up and getting what you want will be slim,you will have no problems hireing snowboard equipment but the lessons side of things maybe a problem due to the time of the year.

Andorra is a good resort and ideal for beginners.

If you want some practice beforehand, totally recommend the new Chill Factor e (Real snow ski/snowboard slopes) in Manchester. Its awesome!
