Vurnon Anita’s agent, Harry Lulofs, has stressed that his client has not asked Ajax Amsterdam to put him on the transfer list this summer. However, he has revealed that they would be having a meeting in the next couple of days to discuss about the midfielder’s
future at Amsterdam Arena.
The 23-year-old, who has been a regular at the Amsterdammers since the 2009/10 season, has long been linked with a move away from the 31-time Eredivisie champions before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut.
In addition, several reports in the Dutch media indicated that the versatile midfielder has forced the club management to put him on the transfer list, as he wants to take the next step in his career by joining a top European club this summer.
However, Anita’s agent, Harry Lulofs, has dismissed all reports, and has revealed that they have yet to meet the club’s sporting director, Marc Overmars.
“We have spoken with Frank de Boer and want to have a meeting with Overmars, as he has control over it”, Lulofs was quoted as saying to Ajax Life.
The talented midfielder’s agent went on to express optimism over the uncertainty surrounding his client’s future.
“There was no meeting earlier this week. But, hopefully it is now just a matter of weeks”, Lulofs concluded.
Anita, who started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in the 2005/06 season, has thus far donned the jersey of Ajax in over 100 Eredivisie matches.
Although, the promising midfielder, who can also play in a left-back role, has been performing consistently for the past four seasons, his blistering showings in the 2011/12 season tempted several European clubs to express interest in acquiring his services
this summer.
