  1. Well im not in NZ anymore, but I did work in tourism in NZ.

Tourism in NZ is a big thing, and I think a trekking business could be quite lucrative.

    Firstly are you in NZ?

Do you live in Franklin, or have you been there before?

You really need to give your trekking company something a little more than other companies offering trekking in the same area.

    Some random ideas are:

You could join alliances with a local backpackers or tourist lodge, offer discounts to their patrons... organise barbecues the night before treks so that people can get to know eachother, talk about the treks, and possibly they will invite other people too.

I know that the tourism industry in New Zealand is very 'buddy buddy' and everyone helps scratch eachothers backs. Do lots of advertising... especially at backpackers!

Have a great website, work alongside fellow tourism companies. Perhaps you could work together to form a 'package deal' with other companies such as accomodation, horse treks, rafting etc etc.

Really there are so many possibilities, and yes, marketing is VERY important.

Do your homework, and see whats around, and market accordingly.

    Good luck with your business.
