The Borussia Monchengladbach defender wants to maintain the consistent form and stay amongst the top four in the Bundesliga.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 on Saturday,
January 04, at the Volkswagen Arena. He stated that the Foals have been ominous so far this season and are thoroughly enjoying their success.
The Belgian insisted that his side is currently oozing with confidence, but warned his players against any complacency in the remainder of the campaign. He mentioned that the Foals can’t afford to be lacklustre considering they
avoided relegation last term. He stated his desire to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League by continuing the impressive form especially when no one fancied the club’s chances after a dismal 2010/11 campaign.
While talking to the official Bundesliga website, the 33-year-old further added:
“Relegation hasn't been an issue for us for some time now. A run of form like we've enjoyed obviously gives you a lot of self-confidence. Now, we want to stay in the mix at the top for as long as possible. That's a nice cushion,
but no grounds for getting lackadaisical. We need to keep focussing on every match.”
On the other hand, the sweeper also commented on his team’s chances in the upcoming DFB-Pokal quarter-final against Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536. Both teams are due to meet on Wednesday, February 08, at the Olympiastadion. Daems added that it
will be a tough match for his side despite the opposition’s poor recent form. He added that his team will definitely target a win and a place in the last four of the competition.
“No, quite the reverse. Those defeats for Hertha will make it all the harder for us, because they'll be trying even harder to turn their form around,” Daems concluded.
The last season relegation contenders are currently fourth on the league table with 40 points, and will next take on third placed, Schalke, on Saturday, February 11, in the Bundesliga.
