as it was really soggy and unpleasant looking. The waitress was polite and said sorry and brought out another but would it have been rude to ask for the price of the pizza to be deducted from the bill. IE should we have made more fuss.

  1. I am a server, and this happens frequently no matter how good I am at my job.  Servers dont cook food and usually dont contribute at all to the cooking process. If you did not want another pizza, i would say you should get it deducted.  If you waited a long time for the new one and the original was visibly disgusting, it should be deducted.  Yet, if your experience wasnt horrible, and the food the second time around was good, i'd just suck it up. also, if you ever feel you should be discounted, ask to speak to the manager, and emphasize to both the manager and the server that you really appreciate the good service, and just want the tasty food you were looking forward to. ( side note. people have a tendency to tip according to the bill total... but if you have a discount or coupon, its poor manners to do so... unless they were horrible of course!)

  2. was the other one any better?

  3. Not really, as long as you were satisfied with the replacement. You did right and wasn't greedy

  4. Always tricky...

We were eating in a pub-restaurant and my other half ound a snail in his lettuce!

When we pointed it out (very politely) to the waitress, she acted like we had put it there ourselves and was quite rude.

Needless to say, we told EVERYONE about it and never went there again!

  5. Yes, you should have got your money back. But sometimes it is difficult to be confrontational when the person you are dealing with is nice.

    Which pizza place was it?

  6. No the waitress treated your complaint fairly . She was polite and changed the poor quality item for a good one and all without fuss .

I have seen folks who do adopt the attitude that serving staff are there to be humiliated but this is downright rude and very unfair

  7. I send food back often !

We should all remember that restaurant food is a commodity just like a pair of shoes or anything else we buy. If there is a flaw with it like it looks bad or not appetising or the pizza has a soggy base you should refuse to accept it and should not pay for it.

Often the restaurant will change the food for something more suitable and very often they will give a complimentary drink or some other token to say they are sorry. I never expect to have it free but if the second dish arrives and its also not up to standard I expect more than a token "sorry"

There are no set rules but don't buy sub-standard food.

Ask yourself......would you buy a blouse with a tear in it or a big mark on it. No, you wouldn't. Food is the same.

  8. The exact same thing happened to us today. But it was hard and dry like cardboard. Inedible. We asked to have it wrapped to take home in order to avoid confrontation. We should have complained.

  9. I definitely think that you should have asked for the price to be deducted

  10. You did exactly the right thing, but, you could have asked for the price to be reflective of the problems, perhaps they could have given free drinks or desert, however you should only suggest this when you are paying, as you don't want anyone spitting in the food!!!

You can still phone their headoffice, or the manager, if they have one and they will send you vouchers

  11. Well maybe you could of got a discount for the pizza. It is not rude to ask in my opinion.

  12. At least you had a good response and another was brought to you, they could have at least offered you a coffee as compensation

  13. YET another good reason for not going there

  14. No not at all. The waitress should have deducted it anyway. About making more fuss I think you should have asked for a deduction. Nothings wrong with that. Its there job to get it right. But as far as the waitress the food part she's not responsible for.

  15. yes you should have. that  was their mistake so you shouldn't have had to pay fot it

  16. soft @ss you lost money although it's not everything would you throw it down the nearest drain ¿

  17. Surely you didn't have to pay for both of them! That's atrocious.
