The Chief Executive Officer of Palermo has conceded that their first choice for their vacant head coach post was the former Catania head coach, Vincenzo Montella.
The former caretaker head coach of AS Roma has impressed many with his style of play and his implementation of footballing philosophy on the field of play, and another fan of the Italian has emerged. This time it is the owner and patron of the Rosanero who
has heaped praise on the credentials of the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 player, and went on to state that he sought to hire him as well.
Furthermore, he went on to comment on the fact that after they sacked their former head coach of last season due to the close finish and flirtation with the relegation zone at the back end of the last season; he sought to acquire the services of the bright
and hard working talent of Vincenzo Montella.
Montella has made a name for himself in the field of coaching, and his career started with the fact that Roma were in need of a head coach in his last season at the club, he presided over the responsibilities of the head coach for a short period of time,
but he did enough for a Serie A team to hire him, when Roma chose Luis Enrique to guide them during the last season.
The abysmal and inconsistent run of Roma, as compared to the consistent and the brilliant form of Catania was enough for many to convince them that Montella was a great coach. While commenting on the performances of the manager and his preference for the
Italian, Zamparini commented that he wanted to sign Montella instead of Giuseppe Sannino, the former AC Siena head coach.
He was quoted to have said:
“Sannino was not the Coach that we wanted to go for. We wanted Montella but, after he didn’t go to Roma, Fiorentina were served him up on a silver platter…”
Montella has proven his worth at the Artemio Franchi outfit, and Zamparini rues the chance he missed while signing him, but stated that he was more than content with the coaching of Gian Piero Gasperini.
