However, the wicketkeeper/batsman, Bisla came up as a real surprise as he outsmarted the Chennai bowlers. The Super Kings’ mentor had not worked out the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Haryana-c790 as he was not a permanent member of Kolkata’s playing XI.
"We got a great early wicket with Gambhir, which we had targeted, but we didn`t expect the onslaught from Bisla, maybe a quick 30, 40 would have been fine, but he took it quite deep and with (Jacques) Kallis," said Fleming.
Bisla scored 89 runs off only 48 balls, in which he struck eight fours and five sixes. The opening batsman scored 136 runs for the second-wicket partnership along with Kallis. The partnership came at the right time for the Knight Riders and proved to be
the difference between the two sides.
The wicketkeeper was named as the Man of the Match for his stunning effort.
Chennai’s coach is disappointed at not been able to defend the title but expressed that the fans have witnessed cricket of the highest quality during IPL 5.
"This partnership (Bisla and Kallis) gave them the belief. Going in to last over with 15 runs is a different story. We did not fire our way through. It is probably a very fitting finale and it is a great IPL in terms of the cricket that has been played,"
he added.
