We will fight till the end for the league, says Sporting Lisbon's Diego Capel – Report
Sporting Lisbon’s Diego Capel claims that his side will fight for the league till the end of the season. The Lions are four points behind leaders, Benfica, but the winger insists that they won’t be out of contention until the end of the campaign.
Portuguese giants, Sporting Lisbon, have considerably upped their game this term. Domingos Paciência’s summer spending has transformed the club and they have been able to keep pace with their rivals.
Last time, FC Porto, dominated the domestic scene and eventually ran out as the winners of the quadruple. The Lisbon outfit were below-par in the 2010/2011 season but are looking to exact revenge this time around.
In Liga Sagres, they are performing consistently and will be able to retain a place at least in the top three given the momentum they are going with.
The UEFA Europa League has also proved to be a happy hunting ground for Sporting, as they have made to the knock-out rounds of the prestigious competition.
Their superb form will surely lead to silverware if they sustain it and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Capel-c11100 has insisted that his team will fight for the title right down to the wire.
Speaking to reporters, the attacker said that they were narrowly off the pace in the Portuguese league and while their opponents were ahead of them, there are several games still to be played that would decide the title.
"There is much power ahead. We are just four points off the top and while it is true that FC Porto and Benfica are also strong in the league, there are still many matches to play and you can be sure that we will fight to the end.”
"It's true. They still have to play important matches, but we are pleased that we are still fighting in all competitions. It is what we wanted. We just have to face everything with motivation and with team spirit. We are very hopeful,” Diego Capel was quoted
as saying.
Boasting some of the best players in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186. And given that the trio are not separated by a large margin, this year’s championship looks
like a closely contested one.
