We will give everything to gain three points against FC Porto, says Benfica striker Nolito – Report
Benfica striker Nolito claims that his side will do everything to secure three points against their fierce rivals, FC Porto, when the two sides go head-to-head in this Sunday’s Liga Sagres derby.
The Reds are due to face the sternest test of their title credentials this season, when they take on reigning champions, Porto, at Estadio do Dragao.
Benfica are arguably playing some of their best football and are looking like real challengers to the Dragon’s crown.
As if holding English giants Manchester United to a nervy 1-1 draw wasn’t enough, the Lisbon outfit then went to trounce Academica 4-1 in their next game. With momentum definitely on their side, they can expect a good away performance against Vitor Pereira’s
men.
Full of confidence, especially due to the slip-up made by their opponents on the weekend, Benfica’s Nolito expressed his belief that he and his teammates could certainly secure three points, even if they are the away side.
Speaking to reporters, the forward compared the clash of the titans to that of Real Madrid and Barcelona, and said that there was nothing preventing the Eagles from gaining a victory.
"It's like a derby between Barcelona and Real Madrid, certainly a beautiful game to play. Let's give everything to get three points.”
When questioned about whether he will play in the match, the in-form attacker remained non-committal but said that he was prepared to play if the coach called upon him.
"I do not know if I'll hold. I work every day to be able to help, whether as owner, or in the minutes to play. But I'm prepared to play well. "
Lastly the former Barcelona man revealed that he loved the support he had received upon his arrival in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 and said that given the current streak of the club, there was no reason why they could not challenge for honours in the UEFA Champions League.
"Someday there will be a bad day, as in any team, but I liked that the fans can support us forever, because it gives us a great life.
"You never know. Benfica have good team and can go far. Even now we played against one of the best teams in the world and we could have won,” Nolito was quoted as saying.
While the Reds are definitely on a great run of games and are one of the top sides in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, they will still struggle against the likes of Barcelona in their quest to win European silverware.
With that being said, there can be no doubt Benfica will be able counter the threat of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 and secure a win at Estadio do Dragao, given their excellent form.
