Top of the list is the Eiffel Tower and the bus tour round the City.

We are more interested in seeing the sights without spending much!

  1. if you have time to stop for lunch, you could visit the restaurant known as chartier.  central, full of charm (unchanged since 1880s) with good unpretentious food.....and it's cheap, with entrées from £2 or so and mains from £6.

    menu & info about restaurant:

    www.restaurant-chartier.com

they have the daily menu on the site and even an english translation, but you should be speaking french if you are there.

    happy hols

  2. Get a Carnet of tickets for the Metro and get out at odd stations and see what there is going on it is fantastic and cheap.

  3. u have a good time in paris she will be well happy as she as just got out of the nick

  4. Have a look a the bridges. Or visit the monparnasse tower. It is ugly but you have a great view of paris. Also it is the only place in paris you can't see the tower from. You get a fab view of the eiffel tower!

  5. Then you are doing the right thing...the bus tour is excellent value for money...takes about 2hours depending on traffic..and go upstairs on the open top...there is a stop near to the Arc De Triomphe. Forget how many stops there are but as far as I remember about 15 and you can get on and off as often as you want.....Have plenty of film or memory card as lots of good photo opportunities....so many things to see you will be spoiled for choice and will definitely go back for more.

  6. With one day you will be limited.  I recommend a walk around the Eiffel tower area.  Don't try to go up because it is usually crowded and will eat up too much of your time.  Once you're on it, you can't see it.  Get the latest Michelin guide and take a couple of the walks that they have mapped out.  Avoid trying to go to the Louvre museum because it far to large.  See Notre Dame Cathedral and the Arc de Triumph but by all means with so little time avoid the metro. Paris is an unbelievably beautiful city. Tree lines streets and beautiful architecture are everywhere, so you need to be above ground as much as possible. If this is your first trip and you want to get a general idea of the city before you start you might concider a half day sighseeing tour.  They call it half day but they usually conclude by noon and most of them include a guided tour of Notre Dame cathedral.  Any hotel can arrange that for you.

Taxis are not that expensive, plentiful and SWIFT! Get in, fasten you seat belt, hold on to your partner, and get ready for the ride of your life.

    Bon Voyage

    Eric

  7. If yiou want to go to the top of the tower i suggest you go as early as possible as it gets very busy at this time of year.It is also expensive to eat so be careful where you eat and drink

  8. Go and see the Notre Dame cathedral, where Quazimodo and Esmerelda story was set, it is quite dark and eerie!

Also take a look at the Louvre- a wonderful Museum underground! by the Place de Concord. Especially the Egyptian section!!!!. take a look at Mona Lisa as well.

Go on the Bateaux Mouche a boat trip down the Seine, take in all the sights on a leisurely cruise. Enjoy!!

  9. get the train to London.!

  10. There are so many great restaurants in Paris, but if you are looking to save a little money on food and still have a great experience - I suggest getting lunch at a street vendor or small grocery store and taking it up to the Sacre Coeur Cathedral and eating outside and watching people. It's up at the highest point of Monmartre and it's absolutely gorgeous! You can go inside the church for free and there are artists in the streets painting and small shops to browse through. While you sit on the steps below the church you can see the best view of the city from so high up!

  11. You'll have a full day. To go up to the Eiffel Tower, and to admire the view, it will takes you at least 2-3 hours. As for the Open Bus (wonderful idea), don't forget that there are four lines, with connections between them, and to do all thees tours others 5-6 hours. In the evening, if you'll be able, walk, walk, along the Seine river and Paris will do all for you.

  12. Champs Elysées

    Notre Dame

    Arc de Triomphe

    Louvre Museum

These are some great places to visit especially the Champs Elysees which has some great shops but very expensive. The Louvre Museum is great too.

    Have a good trip x

  13. I haven't been to Paris yet, but I know this from traveling.  You don't have enought time to really do anything.  Just wonder around the city and drink in the culture.  You don't want to spend half your day in line to see something.  Plan a trip later when you can take some time.
