We will not take http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-John-Rixon-c91144 – Cricket News Update
Steve Rixon, Australia's acting coach for the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), has admitted that his team is favoured against Afghanistan in the only One Day International (ODI), but warned his boys against complacency because
the minnows have been playing some good cricket the recent times.
The one-off encounter is going to take place at Sharjah tomorrow, which will serve as Australia’s preparatory fixture for the upcoming limited-over series against Pakistan, which will comprise of three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.
The former Test cricketer is of the view that Afghanistan has stepped up through ICC’s Division Two cricket and is a side which has shown signs of improvement in the last couple of years. However, the interim coach is confident that
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 and company will not let him down.
"Afghanistan has come in as a minor competitor, but they are competing at the top level, so we've got to go in with a lot of respect for the opposition, but we'd like to think we go in with the upper hand to be able to beat them in
these conditions with the side we have," Rixon said.
The 58-year-old further mentioned that it is a positive step taken by the game’s governing body to promote and encourage the weaker cricketing nations and feels that the step will help popularize the sport all across the globe.
The coach added, "I like the idea that minor nations are getting the opportunity to come in and play against the big boys, I think that's great for cricket and the culture of the game."
The tour of UAE is going to test the Aussie’s, who have been jolted recently by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the ODI series, where Clarke’s men failed to win a single encounter in the five-match series. Consequently, the Kangaroos have slipped down the rankings.
With the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 will give a massive boost to Australia’s confidence in the shorter formats. One expects the Kangaroos to make slight adjustments in their playing-11 and the batting-order.
