We will not take any Test match for granted, says Gary Kirsten – Cricket News Update
South Africa’s head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gary-Kirsten-c58527 said on Monday that his players were focused on the third and final Test against England, commencing at Lord’s, from Thursday, August 16, insisting that the preparation for the series finale
were no different.
Kirsten, the 44-year-old former Proteas batsman, who joined South Africa cricket team last year, said that his side will go out at Lord’s this week to win the match.
"We will focus on the work we do. We respect the opposition and will not take any Test match for granted,” said Kirsten, the former head coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
“We will look at what the other team has and what areas we can exploit. We don't look too closely at individuals. It's no different to any other Test match," he insisted.
South Africa only need to draw this week’s Lord’s Test to take the series as well as remove England from the top of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Test rankings table, but the tourists are eyeing nothing less than a win at the home of cricket.
Kirsten also insisted that they do not want to get involved into Kevin Pietersen’s controversy, adding that the dispute between the player and the England and Wales Cricket Board has been there even before his team arrived in UK.
"The internal issue between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 and the English cricket board has been publicised for weeks, even before we arrived in the UK and we don't want to get ourselves involved in an issue that has nothing to do with us," said
the visiting coach in a stern tone.
Kirsten’s comments have come in the wake of the latest text scandal embroiling the troubled Natal-born http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 batsman, who has allegedly sent text messages to some South African players during drawn Headingley Test, containing derogatory
comments about coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964.
Meanwhile, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 team manager Mohammed Moosajee has also denied the reports of Pietersen sending controversial text messages to Proteas players, claiming that the texts which his players had received during the second Test were nothing more than
a banter.
