We will play Australia not names, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 – Cricket News Update
The West Indian captain Darren Sammy on Wednesday agreed that Australia are in a fine form after a successful summer at home, and have some big names in their team; however, he insisted that they are not going to be intimidated by the formidable Aussies.
Speaking to media reporters ahead of the series opener at St. Vincent on Friday, the home skipper said that they will go out and play positive cricket and hope to emerge victorious.
"We're playing Australia but we're not going to play names, we're just going to go out there and play good positive cricket and hopefully we could come out on top," said Sammy speaking to reporters at the official Digicel Series media launch at Arnos Vale
Cricket Ground on Wednesday.
The host nation’s ODI record against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 is poor. They have not beaten the visiting since October 2006 and in that period they have played 14 ODIs, losing 13 while one ended as a no result. The West Indian skipper, Darren Sammy is not dwelling on the
past, and he thinks the new-look Caribbean side can exceed expectations at the Arnos Vale Ground at St. Vincent.
“…we are focussing on us and what we have to do. We have a young team but we are a team hungry for success,” said the 28-year-old St. Lucia all-rounder, who took over as West Indies skipper in November 2010.
“Johnson Charles is an exciting prospect for us and we also have http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andre-Dwayne-Russell-c44235, the exciting allrounder, who can do the job that is required,” he added further.
Sammy will also be welcoming back Tino Best and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dinesh-c54134 Ramdin.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 are not a force in international cricket as they used to be but a new look side can give the Aussies a good run for their money.
