We won’t let Windies stage a comeback in 2nd Test: Mickey Arthur – Cricket News Update
Australia coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969 has expressed the team’s intent to keep the West Indies from making a comeback in the 2nd Test, after they lost the first match, played from April 7 to 11 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, by 3 wickets.
“They showed in the one-dayers how good they were,” Arthur said. “We certainly won't be taking them lightly.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 included a 5-match ODI series, in addition to 2 T20s. The tourists began both series with wins in the first games, only to have their opponents bounce back in the second match.
Beginning the ODI series with a 64-run win, the Aussies looked to have an upper-hand. However, the host team managed to bounce back in the very next match, securing a 5-wicket win which leveled the series score.
After a draw in the third match, Darren Sammy’s men grabbed another victory in the fourth ODI – a 42-run win which had them at 2-1. A 30-run victory in the last match enabled the Aussies to salvage their pride and end the series on a draw.
The T20s were played out on a similar pattern. The tourists began on a promising note, winning the first encounter by 8 wickets, but the home team again refused to grant them a series win, leveling the score with a 14-run win in the second match.
“We saw in the one-day series we won the first game and they came back at us. We won the first T20 and they hit back at us,” Arthur observed. “We're not going to let that happen in the Test series.”
The extended-overs leg of the tour appears to have begun on a similar pattern. The Aussies clinched a 3-wicket victory in the first match. The Windies appeared to have the match all but won as they breezed through the first 3 days of play, but the visiting
team managed to fight back in the last few days, finally turning the game around in their favour.
With the second match due to begin on April 15 at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, the Australian team will be looking to dominate play from the very beginning, which will enable them to win the match, and ultimately the series.
