We were thinking of being a brd rescue for tropical birds. It would only be a few, and they have to be oil based. Here are my questions:

1. What are the smaller oil based birds?

2. Do we have to have a lincense, and if so, what kind and where to get it.

3. How do we advertise?

4. Any other suggestions or comments.

  1. Why don't you try going to the zoo and volenteer so you can learn how to care for them. You can do what I do and begin taking in unwanted birds in your area without trying to call yourself a rescue so you don't NEED any kind of licence. I do take in unwanted birds all over TEXAS and I can tell you when I do rehome them for a price on those I can not keep forever, I ask for PetSmart gift cards as payment so the entire portion of any kind of profit I get from that bird is always put right back into the birds I have on hand at the time. This way I have no NEED to go out and BEG for help in trying to AFFORD these birds and their care. Plus it shows those adopting the birds from me, that I am not in this for the profit of money at all. The only thing *I* Personally profit off of these birds is that I get to the utter JOY OF LOVING THEM and while they are here I love them. I get the joy of caring for them and getting all the love given to me they have to give too.

Usually when people give you their birds like they do me, they will allow you to take the cages and all. Which helps when you need cages later. Never adopt the birds out with cages, so you do not find yourself needing cages later. If you work your desires like I do mine,, you will be able to take in all you can handle, and you will have no need to ask for help or supplies. I have been doing it for 20 yrs now. GOOD LUCK!
